| abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain an expandable sheet-like structure having good mechanical strength by providing a layer of granular intumescence material between two textile structures which are stitched or sewn to one another. n CONSTITUTION: A layer of granular intumescence material is laminated on a textile sheet-like structure, and another one of textile sheet-like structure is coated thereon. These two textile sheet-like structures are then stitched or sewn to one another, thereby forming a sheet-like structure having an expandable intermediate layer. Possible textile sheet-like structures are, preferably, stitchable woven fabrics, knitted fabrics, loop fabrics, laid fabrics, non-wovens or the like. The textiles constituting the sheet-like structures are cellulosic fibers, mineral fibers, synthesized fibers or the like.
