PURPOSE: To obtain the title compd. useful as a toxicity relaxation agent for protecting plants against the toxic side effects of a herbicide when applied simultaneously with the herbicide by bringing a 5-chloro-8-hydroxyquinoline and alkane carboxylic acid deriv. into reaction. n CONSTITUTION: The 5-chloro-8-hydroxyquinoline and the compd. of formula I [Y is an elimination group; R 1 , R 2 are H, 1 to 4c alkyl; R 3 is 3 to 4C aklenyloxy, 3 to 6C alkimyloxy, etc.; X is O, S, NR 4 (R 4 is H, 1 to 6C alkyl, etc.); A is 1 to 6C alkylene, 4 to 8C alkenylene, etc.] are brought into reaction at 80 to 120°C preferably in a solvent, such as dimethylsufoxide, in the presence of an alkaline metal carbonate, such as potassium carbonate, by which the compd. of formula II is obtd. The compd. of the formula II is, for example, 1-isopropylideneaminooxy-2-propyl 5-chloloquinoline-8-oxyacetate. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO |
