titleOfInvention Method for purifying aqueous solution of acrylamide
abstract PURPOSE: To carry out purification by stably and economically removing dissolved copper from an aqueous solution of acrylamide obtained by a method for catalytic hydration of acrylonitrile with a cation exchange resin under specific conditions for a long period. n CONSTITUTION: Copper normally contained at 10-50ppm concentration in an aqueous solution of acrylamide is removed by using a cation exchange resin (e.g. H type weakly acidic ion exchange resin Amberlite IRC-76(R)). The copper is removed while keeping the dissolved oxygen in the aqueous solution of the acrylamide at a concentration of at least ≥2ppm, preferably ≥5ppm at the outlet of a resin column or a resin vessel. Thereby, polymerization of the acrylamide can surely be avoided to remove the dissolved copper. The acrylamide is useful for producing acrylamide-based polymers employed as a paper strengthening agent, a flocculant, etc., and further useful as various monomers. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
