titleOfInvention Fixed magnetic disk, its manufacture, and fixed magnetic disk device using the disk
abstract PURPOSE: To improve the track density and linear recording density of a fixed magnetic disk and, at the same time, to increase the capacity of the disk even when its size is reduced by providing thin films of an oxidized magnetic substance which has a magneto-optical effect and another oxidized magnetic substance for magnetic recording media. n CONSTITUTION: A thin film 2 of an oxidized magnetic substance which has a spinel type crystal structure and magneto-optical effect and contains iron and cobalt is formed on one surface of a transparent glass substrate 1 by a plasma excitation MO-CVD method which forms the film 2 by chemically vapor-depositing a mixed gas of the vapor of an organic metallic compound and oxygen in plasma. Then light transmissive thin films 3 and 4 of another oxide magnetic substance for magnetic recording media which have columnar spinel type crystal structures and contain iron and cobalt are formed on the surface of the film 2 and the other surface of the substrate 1 by another plasma excitation MO-CVD method which forms the films 3 and 4 by chemically vapor-depositing a mixed gas of the vapor of an organic metallic compound and oxygen in plasma. Therefore, a head having a small floating height can be used for this fixed magnetic disk and the track and recording density of the disk can be improved. In addition, the disk can be increased in capacity even when its size is reduced. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
