abstract (57) [Summary] [PROBLEMS] To provide a method for producing a polarizing film based on a polyvinyl alcohol film, which is excellent in heat resistance, wet heat resistance, durability and polarizing performance. A method for producing a polarizing film, which comprises adsorbing a polarizing element on a polyvinyl alcohol-based film, uniaxially stretching the film in an aqueous solution of boric acid, subjecting the film to heat treatment, washing with water, and drying.
