titleOfInvention Method for extinction of minor actinide nuclides
abstract (57) [Summary] [Purpose] To burn minor actinide nuclides with a long half-life in a fast reactor core with minimal influence of rare earth elements. [Constitution] Of the minor actinide nuclides separated from the spent fuel, neptunium is added to the fuel of the fast reactor (inner core 10 and / or outer core 12), and either or both of the diameter blanket 16 and the axial blanket 14 are added. Americium and rare earth elements are added to and burned. In the case of a combustion furnace, the shield may be added with americium and a rare earth element and burned. Curium may be added together with americium and a rare earth element. The amount of neptunium added is 2 to 5% of the fuel weight, and the amount of rare earth elements added is 50% or less. The Purex method is used to separate neptunium, and the True-X method is used to separate americium and curium.
