abstract (57) [Summary] [Constitution] In the method of synthesizing a diamond single crystal by growing diamond on a seed crystal from a carbon source by a temperature difference method under conditions of high temperature and high pressure in the stable region of diamond, the carbon source is -Uses pyrogenic carbon in the form of burrs. [Effect] The flaky pyrolytic carbon as the carbon source of the present invention can effectively synthesize a diamond single crystal without requiring pretreatment as in the conventional case. Further, by selecting the ratio at the time of producing flaky pyrolytic carbon as a carbon source, a diamond single crystal containing 12 C and 13 C in an arbitrary ratio can be synthesized.
