(57) [Summary] A prosthesis (101) which is formed by one continuous coil spring and has a prosthetic central coil portion (117), a heel extension portion (115) and a forefoot extension portion (116). Lateral, medial and twisting movements are accommodated. During the walking cycle, energy is absorbed and stored by the prosthesis while the heel strikes the ground, and energy is transferred to the forefoot extension during the walking cycle, while the prosthesis is swaying forward to release its foot. When the foot is released, energy is released to provide propulsion on the prosthesis. One embodiment includes a device that allows the wearer of the prosthesis to feel the physical force applied to the prosthesis. |
