abstract (57) [Abstract] [PROBLEMS] To increase the degree of concentration of solid matter such as activated sludge contained in wastewater. SOLUTION: A flotation separation tank 1 for concentrating solid matter such as activated sludge contained in wastewater to be treated is formed in a circular cross section, and at a position at a height almost half of the liquid depth of the flotation separation tank 1. A discharge nozzle 34 for guiding the waste water into the flotation tank 2 is provided, and the discharge direction of the waste water from the discharge nozzle 34 is horizontal. Since the discharge nozzle 34 is located away from the water surface, the vicinity of the water surface can be kept stationary, and the waste water flowing out from the discharge nozzle 34 can be quickly and uniformly dispersed in the horizontal direction. By effectively using the water surface, it is possible to concentrate solid matter such as activated sludge.
