abstract (57) [Problem] To be used for an electronic material such as a carrier transport layer, particularly for a hole or electron transport layer of an organic light-emitting device, to have good luminous efficiency, high stability, and easy synthesis. A phenylcarbazole derivative is provided. SOLUTION: By comprising a phenylcarbazole derivative in which a carbazole ring and a benzene ring are bonded and the phenylcarbazole derivative is constituted by a plurality of units represented by the following general formula (1) or (2), A structure in which a resonance-stabilized structure without overlapping parts in the benzene ring portion is provided, and unpaired electrons of the nitrogen atom are arranged so that electrons or positive charges can easily flow to adjacent phenyl and carbazole groups.
