abstract (57) [Problem] To provide a metal thin-film magnetic recording medium capable of simultaneously achieving high coercive force and reduction of medium noise. SOLUTION: A seed layer of a crystalline alloy composed of 36 to 46% of Ni, 0.5 to 6% of Cu, and substantially Cr in balance is formed between a medium substrate and a Cr underlayer. I do. The seed layer is formed while applying a negative bias voltage to the medium substrate.
