PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an amorphous carbon material for a negative electrode of a lithium ion secondary battery, which has a large discharge capacity and a small irreversible capacity enough for practical use and can give a high potential, and a method for producing the same. . A water-soluble aromatic sulfonic acid condensate or a condensate of a water-soluble aromatic sulfonic acid salt is converted to a water-insoluble polymer aromatic sulfonic acid condensate by heat treatment at a temperature lower than the decomposition temperature of sulfonic acid groups. Then, under an inert atmosphere, the water-insoluble polymer aromatic sulfonic acid condensate is 800 to 1200 Heat treated at ℃ to make amorphous carbon. It is preferable to further coat the surface of the obtained amorphous carbon with pyrolytic carbon. |
