PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-purity tin oxide having a low alkali and chlorine content, and to provide stannous hydroxide by a neutralization reaction between an acidic aqueous solution of stannous salt and an aqueous alkali solution. In a method of producing stannous oxide by dehydration, a mixed solution of aqueous ammonia and ammonium bicarbonate is used as a neutralizing solution, and an acidic aqueous solution of a stannous salt and the neutralized solution are pH 6.0. 1 0, reacted at a liquid temperature of 50 ° C. or less, and the resulting stannous hydroxide precipitate was filtered off, washed with water, and dehydrated to stannous oxide to obtain an acid having an alkali content of 10 ppm or less and a chlorine content of 50 ppm or less. To obtain stannous oxide which is easily soluble in water. |
