abstract (57) [Summary]nThe present invention relates to a recombinant polypeptide comprising a surface exposed antigen of Helicobacter pylori having a molecular weight of about 29 kilodaltons. The invention further provides nucleic acid molecules encoding the polypeptides, as well as vectors and host cells comprising such nucleic acid molecules. The recombinant polypeptides are useful in diagnosing Helicobacter pylori, as well as in vaccine compositions that induce a protective immune response against such infections and are suitable for use both in therapy and prevention.
