titleOfInvention ATM switch
abstract (57) [Problem] In an ATM switch composed of multiple stages, by performing switching on a connection basis, cells of the same connection pass through the same route, so that a traffic bias occurs and blocking occurs. SOLUTION: Switching is not performed on a connection basis, but is performed on a cell level. Unit switches are provided in cascade in three stages, and in the first unit switch, input cells are equally distributed to output lines. In the second unit switch, even when cells are concentrated on a specific route, the queue length of each buffer is made equal by inserting empty cells. As a result, traffic can be dispersed, and there is no need to perform complicated control for avoiding cell order inversion.
