A11725I: white powder; molecular formula C37H61NO12; molecular weight 711; m.p. 103-107 deg.C; [alpha]D= -40.0 deg. (c=1, CH3OH); color reaction, discoloration of KMnO4 aqueous solution +, each of ninhydrin, Sakaguchi and ferric chloride reactions -; etc. A-11725II: white powder; molecular formula C37H61NO13; molecular weight 727; m.p. 102-106 deg.C; [alpha]D= -31.0 deg. (c=1, CH3OH); color reaction, the same as A11725I: etc. USE:Macrolide antibiotic which is especially effectibve against staphylococci and mycoplasma. PROCESS:Strains of micromonospora SPA11725 (FERM-P No.4488) are cultured under aerobic conditions in a medium containing assimilable C, N source and inorganic substances, to collect A11725Iand II from a cultured substance.
