titleOfInvention Hot extruding method for copper alloy
abstract PURPOSE: To prevent the surface of an extruded material from being excessively contaminated with attached Zn particles by hot extruding a Cu alloy contg. ≥20% Zn from a die followed by immediate forced cooling with oxygen-contg. gas. n CONSTITUTION: Heated Cu alloy billet 1 contg. ≥20% Zn put into the container and extruded from die 6 with stem 3 through push block 2. Gas nozzles 8a, 8b are arranged just behind die 6, and gas 9a, 9b contg. 5W80vol% oxygen is sprayed from nozzles 8a, 8b to forcedly cool extruded Al material 7. The surface of material 7 is fixed by the oxidation, and Zn is evaporated from the surface and does not attach to the inside of die 6, so the surface is prevented from being excessively contaiminated with solidified Zn. Shower 10 is set several m behind die 6 to rapidly cool material 7. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio
