titleOfInvention Forming method for minute hole
abstract PURPOSE:To form a minute hole with high precision and at low cost by a method wherein a wire is sandwiched between two plates of glass, the assembly is heated to form a glass body containing the wire therein, and then the wire is removed by dissolution. CONSTITUTION:A wire 1 with a diameter equal to the inside diameter of a minute hole desired is sandwiched between two glass plates 2 and 3, and the assembly is heated at a temperature higher than the softening point of the glass to unite the glass plates together, forming a glass body 5 containing the wire 1 therein. After shaped to a desired size, the glass body 5 is sliced in the direction orthogonal to the wire 1, to obtain block pieces 7 with a piece of the wire 1 at the center. After polishing the surfaces of the block piece 7 to smooth the surfaces and forming a spherical recessed portion 10, the piece of the wire 1 present in the block piece 7 is removed by a warm solution of ferric chloride.
