titleOfInvention Microbiological preparation of 9alpha-hydroxyandrostenedione
abstract PURPOSE: To prepare 9α-hydroxyandrost-4-ene-3,17-dione by culturing a mutant of Mycobacterium vaccae in a medium containing sterols as a substrate. n CONSTITUTION: A mutant of Mycobacterium vaccae, wherein the 9α-hydroxyandrost-4-ene-3,17-dione-decomposition enzyme existing in the wild strain is absent or present only as a deactivated state, such as Mycobacterium vaccae MCI-1104 (FERM-P No.4741 or MCI-1117 (FERM-P No.4754), is inoculated in a medium iontaining sterol, its C-3 ester derivative, C-3 ether derivative, or their oxidation ontermediate as a substrate, and cultured to accumulate the objective 9α-hydroxyandrost-4-ene-3,17-dione in the medium. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio
