abstract PURPOSE: A low-toxicity remedy for ischemic cardiopathy that contains ML-236B, as an active principle, which is obtained from the metabolites of a penicillium. n CONSTITUTION: ML-236B, which is known as a serum cholesterol depressant, is used as a remedy for ischemic cardiopathies such as myocardial infarction or stenocardia. ML-236B is obtained by isolation from the metabolites of Penicillium citrinum and purification and is known to include two isomers of carboxylic acid type of formula II and of lactone type of formula I. The substance is prepared into capsules, tablets or injection solutions and given orally or parenterally.
