titleOfInvention Purification of crude 2-aminoanthraquinone
abstract PURPOSE: To purify the titled compound in high yields in high purity useful as a synthetic intermediate for a dye, by nitrating a 1,4-dihydroanthraquinone, reducing the resulting compound, followed by extracting the reduced compound with a hydrocarbon solvent, e.g., an aromatic or a halogen-substituted aromatic solvent. n CONSTITUTION: One, two, or more compounds selected from the group consisting of 1,4,4a,9a-tetrahydroanthraquinone, 1,4-dihydroanthrahydroquinone, and 1,4- dihydroanthraquinone are nitrated with nitric acid by a well-known method, and reduced to give a crude 2-aminoanthraquinone. Prepared compound is purified by extraction and recrystallization or washing using a hydrocarbon solvent, e.g., an aromatic (e.g., benzene, etc.), a halogen-substituted aromatic (e.g., chlorobenzene, etc.), and a halogenated aliphatic solvent (e.g., chloroform, etc.). Washing reduces an amount of the solvent and the solvent can be reused after distillation, etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
