abstract PURPOSE: To provide an agent having excellent effect for controlling the pathogenic fungi of rice blast, by using a 4-(4-trifluoromethylphenoxy)phenol as an effective component. n CONSTITUTION: An agent for controlling rice blast, containing a 4-[4-trifluoro- methylphenoxy (or phenylthio)]phenol derivative of formula I (X is halogen; Y is lower alkyl; Z is O or S; R is H, lower alkyl or cation) as an effective component. The compound of formula I can be prepared e.g. by reacting a compound of formula II (HAL is halogen) with a compound of formula III (R' is H or lower alkyl) in the presence of a alkaline material in a solvent at 50W200°C for 0.5W24hr. The compound is compounded with inert solid carrier, liquid diluent, etc. obtain emulsion, wettable powder, etc. The concentration of the effective component is adjusted to 200W1,000ppm before application. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
