titleOfInvention Manufacture of steel-cored aluminum-covered wire
abstract PURPOSE: To continuously manufacture the steel-cored aluminum-covered wire as the electric conductive wire, by putting the heated aluminum in the barrel, by pressing this aluminum from both sides with the ram and the counter ram, by pressure welding this aluminum to the steel core passing through the barrel transversely so as to cover the steel core with aluminum. n CONSTITUTION: The ram 20 and the counter ram 20' provided in the barrel 14 are retreated mutually to the opposite sides; under this condition, the billet of aluminum or aluminum alloy 12 as the covering material is heated by the feeder and is put into the space between the rams 20, 20', in the barrel 14. On the other hand, the steel wire 16 as the core material is put in through the nipple 16 provided in the middle of the barrel 14, and is passed through the die 18 installed on the opposite side of the nipple 16; hereby, the steel core 1 passes through the barrel 14. The ram 20 and 20' are moved inward so as to press the internal aluminum 12, and at the same time, the steel core 1 is fed forward from the nipple 16 to the die 18. Aluminum 12 is pressure welded to both surfaces of the steel core 1, and aluminum 12 and the steel core 1 are integrally extruded through the die 18; hereby, the wire 3, possessing the steel core 1 covered by aluminum as the electric conductive metal, can be continuously manufactured. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
