titleOfInvention Manufacture of cadmium negative electrode for alkaline cell
abstract PURPOSE:To keep a stabilized quality of the negative electrode, by applying to an electrode plate, a paste which is made by adding cadmium oxide to the solution containing hydrophilic high molecular compound dissolved in the mixed solvent composed of the water and organic solvent having higher boiling point than that of water. CONSTITUTION:A sort of paste is prepared by dissolving the hydrophilic high molecular compound such as polyvinylalcohol, carboxymethyl cellulose etc., in the mixed solvent composed of the water and organic solvent such as ethylene glycol, glycerine etc., which is compatible with water and has higher b.p. than that of water, and then additing to this solution cadmium oxide, mixing and kneading it. Then, a cadmium negative electrode for alkaline cell is formed by applying this paste to an electrode plate made of a perforated plate of band space etc., then drying it. Thereby, it is possible to provide an electrode of a stabilized quality of the proper filling density and large capacity and to make its characteristics superior by decreasing the volume of organic solvent.
