titleOfInvention Detecting method for intrusion of foreign substance into bearing
abstract PURPOSE:To detect penetration of foreign substance into a bearing such as a roll neck bearing used in a rolling mill on information of varied inductivity of a matter, if any, inside a cavity of the bearing. CONSTITUTION:A co-axial type electrostatic capacity detective sensor 6 is inserted in a sensor mounting hole 8 drilled at the side end part of an inner race 7 with which an oil seal 4 makes frictional contact, the end face of the sensor 6 being opposed to the vacant interior theta of a bearing. An electrostatic capacity detected by the sensor 6 is received via a co-axial cable 10 by a signal converter 11 and converted therein into a current signal, which is further sent via a feeding cable 12 to a meter indicator 13, a recorder 14 and a warning device 15, which are the means for identifying varied electrostatic capacity detected by the electrostatic capacity detective sensor 6. Foreign substances such as water, scale and so on which penetrate in the capacity 9 of the bearing may be thus detected.
