titleOfInvention Methacrylic resin having low hygroscopicity
abstract PURPOSE: To provide the titled resin composed of specific amounts of methyl methacrylate, a specific ester and a polymerizable unsaturated monomer copolymerizable with the above components, having low hygroscopicity, and useful as a plastic lens, a disk substrate, etc. n CONSTITUTION: The objective resin is prepared by copolymerizing (A) 60W 95wt%, preferably 70W90wt% of methyl methacrylate, (B) 5W30wt%, preferably 10W25wt% of an ester of a ≥10C saturated aliphatic monohydric alcohol and (meth)acrylic acid (preferably lauryl methacrylate, tridecyl methacrylate, or stearly methacrylate), and (C) 0W30wt%, preferably 0W20wt% of a polymerizable unsaturated monomer copolymerizable with the components (A) and (B) (preferably cyclohexyl methacrylate or styrene). n EFFECT: The dimensional change and warpage by moisture absorption and the generation of cracks by the repetition of the moisture absorption and drying for a long period, can be improved. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio
