abstract PURPOSE:To moderate a water shock at the time of cutting waves, by a method wherein a hydrofoil V-shaped in cross section, isosceles triangle shaped in plan view with the vertex on the fore side and having outside edges set to be higher than the root of splashes at the time of high-speed cruising is provided at a fore part or at fore and back parts of a ship's hull in a manner of being projected from the ship's bottom. CONSTITUTION:In a high speed vessel wherein a means for generating a lift balancing with the entire weight of the vessel is provided at a fore part or at fore and back parts of the ship's hull, a hydrofoil 11 V-shaped in cross section, isosceles triangle shaped in plan view with the vertex on the fore side and having the outside edges 12 set to be higher than the root of splashes at the time of high-speed cruising is provided as the means. The outside edges 12 are provided with flares 14 to horizontally fly the receding waves in transverse directions and to prevent splashes from colliding against the ship's bottom. Accordingly, the water shock generated at the time of cutting waves during the high- speed cruising is moderated, and wave resistance of the vessel as a whole is enhanced.
