abstract PURPOSE:To decrease moisture permeability without generation of optical rotatory power and to pevent deterioration of a liquid crystal by hydrolysis by forming both base plates of a plastic. CONSTITUTION:Base plates 1, 2 of a phenoxy resin sandwich a liquid crystal layer 3. A transparent conductive film 4 of SuO2, etc. is formed on the layer 3 side surface of the plates 1, 2, and a resin layer 5 of polyvinyldene chloride is formed on the opposite side. An oriented film 6 is formed on the film 4. The plates 1, 2 are 0.025-1.5mm. thick, and as the thickness decreases to 0.025-1mm.- 0.03-0.2mm., the reduction in the thickness is intended and the display body is made strong to bending. The thickness of the film 4 is 100-2,000Angstrom , more preferably 100-700Angstrom . The film 6 is a polyimide (polyamide, polyimide/amide) resin, is 5-1,000Angstrom thick and is oriented by rubbing. Spacers 7 of a spherical shape, etc. consisting of glass fibers, glass, etc. are disposed between the plates 1 and 2, and a seal 8 is an adhesive agent of epoxy, etc.
