abstract | PURPOSE:To enable to provide a large gap between a printing head and a recording paper, by a method wherein a solid, semisolid or thixotropic ink is heated to partially melt the ink, and the ink thus melted is transferred onto a recording paper in a contacting manner or in a non-contacting manner. CONSTITUTION:A front part of the head 10 is provided with a slit form opening 11 having a width of approximately equal to that of a recording paper and a height of about 200mum, and the head 10 is filled with, for example, a solid ink obtained by mixing 10pts.wt. of styrene, 80pts.wt. of paraffin wax and 10pts.wt. of carbon. When an amount of energy of about 1mJ is supplied by using an input signal of 10V and 1msec, the temperature of the head 10 is raised to or above 100 deg.C, whereby the solid ink around a heating element 12 is melted, and protrudes through the opening 11. At this moment, a voltage is impressed between a roller 18 and an electrode 13 to give a propelling force to the ink thus protruded, whereby an image corresponding to an image signal is produced on the recording paper. |
