titleOfInvention Cooling device for metallic plate or the like
abstract PURPOSE:To vary easily and continuously the length of a cooling nozzle by disposing a conveying path for a metallic plate, headers having plural spray nozzles on the upper and lower sides and freely movable water shielding plates which shield the optional number of the above-mentioned nozzles along said path. CONSTITUTION:A cooling device 1 is constituted of the conveying path 2 for the material 3 to be treated such as the metallic plate after a heating treatment, the headers 4 having the plural spray nozzles 4 for injecting a coolant 9 to the surface of the material 3 and the water shielding plates 6, etc. movable freely along the path 2. The plates 6 are connected with chains 14 at the front and rear ends 12, 13 and form a loop via sprockets 19. Said plates are turned by a driving device 15. The plates 6 are moved in the direction opposite from the conveying direction of the material 3 to increase continuously the number of the nozzles 4 to be shielded while the material 3 passes through the inside of the device at a specified speed. The time for injecting the coolant 9 is thus made shorter nearer the rear side of the material 3 and the temp. difference between the front and rear ends 3a and 3b of the material 3 is eliminated.
