titleOfInvention Photogravure process roll
abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a photogravure process roll facilitating the fitting of rotary shafts to a cylinder and being light in weight, by forming the cylinder 1 of an extruded form material of an aluminum alloy having at least three radial joint walls, and by making the rotary shafts project outward with respective one end fixed on the inner surface in each of the opposite ends of an inner wall. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder 1 is formed of an extruded form material of an Al-Mg-Si aluminum alloy which has an outer wall 1a, an inner wall 1b and four radial joint walls 1c joining the former two walls. Rotary shafts 2 formed of Fe are made to project outward with respective one end fixed on the inner surface in each of the opposite ends of the inner wall 1b. The weight of this roll is about 1/3 of an iron one, and thus an operation of replacing the roll can be performed by one person. Moreover the cylinder is excellent in the adhesion to a copper plating layer and quite free from corrosion. The rotary shafts in a pair can be fitted simply to the cylinder.
