abstract PURPOSE:To prevent cell diameter from becoming nonuniform, by a method wherein an unvulcanized rubber composition with water dispersely mixed therein is used as a material for forming a compressible rubber layer. CONSTITUTION:The compressible offset blanket comprises an oil-resistant surface rubber layer 11, the compressible rubber layer 12 and a fibrous backing layer 13, the layers 12, 13 being laminated on the lower side of the layer 11. In the manufacture of the blanket, an unvulcanized rubber composition with water dispersely mixed therein is prepared as a material for forming the compressible rubber layer 12, is layered, and is irradiated with high-energy electromagnetic waves, whereby vulcanization is effected, and simultaneously, water particles are evaporated, the expansion pressure of which is utilized to form minute closed cells in the rubber layer 12. Accordingly, a uniform cell diameter and uniform dispersion of the cells are ensured, and there is no need to subject a spreader or the like to a rust preventive treatment.
