abstract | PURPOSE: To provide an azo pigment having excellent resistance to solvents, good resistance to light, heat, water, acids and alkalis, etc. and high coloring power, which is represented by a specified structural formula and has a crystal structure characterized by an X-ray diffraction pattern with characteristic peaks. n CONSTITUTION: An azo pigment is represented by formula I and has a crystal structure characterized by an X-ray diffraction pattern with characteristic peaks at a diffraction angle (2θ) of 9.6°, 11.6°, 12.9°, 14.3°, 18.1° and 26.5°. A compd. of formula II is reacted with a compd. of formula III to form an amorphous azo pigment of formula I, which is then heat-treated in a high-boiling org. solvent such as nitrobenzene at 120W250°C for 1W10hr to thereby obtain said crystalline azo pigment. The amorphous azo pigment exhibits unclear tint and has low resistance to solvents, light and heat, while said crystalline azo pigment has clear tint (dominant wavelength nm) at 546, is superior in resistance to solvents, light and heat and has high coloring power. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1986,JPO&Japio |
