abstract PURPOSE: To provide a thermal recording material having sufficient developed color density and color forming sensitivity and excellent stability with time, by incorporating at least one compound selected from aromatic polyethers and aromatic polyesters together with an aromatic ether into a thermal color forming layer. n CONSTITUTION: An aromatic polyether or polyester to be added to a thermal color forming layer comprising an electron-donative dye precursor and an electron-receptive compound is preferably a compound of general formula (I). An aromatic ether, particularly an aromatic monoether or an aromatic diether, to be used in the color forming layer is preferably a compound of general formula (II) or (III). Among the compounds of general formula (I), one having a melting point of 90W200°C is preferred.
