titleOfInvention Heat engine using reformed fuel
abstract PURPOSE: To accelerate the combustion speed and reduce NOx from exhaust gas by mixing a part of fuel and high temperature moisture to be reformed to hydrogen and carbon monoxide, and then burning said reformed gas with ordinary fuel. n CONSTITUTION: One part of fuel in a fuel tank 21 is supplied to an evaporation chamber 11 of a reformer 9 through a pipe 24, and the other part of fuel is injected into a combustion chamber 2 through a pipe 27 by a fuel pump 3. Also, a part of fuel supplied to the reformer 9 is heated by an exhaust gas pipe 8, which has become high temperature due to exhaust gas from a combustion part 1, to become high temperature and pressure gas in the evaporation chamber 11. On the other hand, steam heated by a steam heater 10 is supplied into the evaporation chamber 11 through a filler hole 20 to be mixed with high temperature and pressure gas of fuel. And, this mixed gas is passed through reforming catalyser 12 to be reformed to hydrogen and carbon monoxide, and cooled by a heat exchanger 15, and then mixed with air at an intake part 6 to be supplied into the combustion chamber 2. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
