titleOfInvention Production of magnetic recording medium
abstract PURPOSE: To decrease the coefft. of friction and to improve wear resistance and corrosion resistance by providing a protective film layer consisting of a specific org. high- polymer compd. on a magnetic layer and further providing a lubricating agent layer thereon. n CONSTITUTION: The magnetic layer is formed on a substrate and the protective film layer consisting of the org. high-polymer compd. contg. at least carbon atoms and hydrogen atoms is provided on said magnetic layer; further the lubricating agent layer is provided on the protective film layer consisting of the high-polymer compd. and thereafter the surface is subjected to a plasma treatment with gaseous oxygen or inert gas. Since the gaseous oxygen and inert gas converted to plasma have high energy, fresh chemical bonds are formed between the protective film layer consisting of the org. high-polymer compd. and the lubricating agent layer and the lubricating agent is securely deposited on the protective film layer. The wear resistance and corrosion resistance are consequently improved by the synergistic effect of the protective film layer and the lubricating agent; in addition, the excellent lubricating effect of the lubricating agent is developed, by which the coefft. of friction is thoroughly decreased, the wear resistance is much improved and the corrosion resistance is improved as well. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
