titleOfInvention | Production of raw material for carbonaceous material |
abstract | PURPOSE: To prepare a raw material for a cabonaceous material contg. a mesophase, by conducting particular two-step solvent extraction of pitch and heat treating the final solvent-insoluble matter. n CONSTITUTION: A first extraction treatment of stock pitch, e.g., coal tar pitch in stock, is conducted with cyclohexane as a first solvent under supercritical conditions. As a result, cyclohexane-soluble (low-boiling components) and cyclohexane-insoluble are obtd. A second extraction treatment of the insoluble is conducted with toluene or a mixed solvent comprised of toluene and quinoline as a second solvent under supercritical conditions. Finally, the second solvent- insoluble (mesophase precursor) obtd. by the second extraction treatment is heat treated (under atmospheric pressure at 450W480°C). The solvent-insoluble matter is converted into a mesophase at a conversion rate of about 100% almost instantaneously (less than 1min). Since the first and second extraction treatments have been conducted under supercritical conditions, separation of each solvent- insoluble from the respective solvent-soluble can readily be conducted by reduced pressure operation. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio |
