abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a herbicide maintaining effects throughout growth period of rice plant only by a small amount of application once, containing a specific sulfonamide compound and a compound selected from a pyrazole compound, acid amide compound and organic phosphorous compound. n CONSTITUTION: A herbicidal composition containing a compound shown by formula I (X 1 WX 3 are halogen; R is methyl or methoxy) or a salt thereof and at least one selected from a pyrazole compound, acid amide compound, quinolinecarboxylic acid compound, organic phosphorous compound, carbamate compound and diphenyl ether compound in the weight ratio of 1:0.5W100. The herbicidal composition has controlling effects on Echinochloa crus-galli Beauv. var. praticola Ohwi. as well as bulrush, arrow head and slender spikerush which are not weeded with with ease with an extremely small amount without providing rice plants with phytotoxicity.
