titleOfInvention Production of optically anisotropic spherule
abstract PURPOSE: To produce optically anisotropic spherules having small particle diameters by an extremely easy method and in high yield without requiring vacuum operation, etc., by heat-treating a specific pitch in an inert atmosphere under a specific condition. n CONSTITUTION: A pitch having ≥100°C softening point by ring and ball test method is heat-treated in a substantially inert atmosphere at 350W500°C and optically anisotropic spherules are extracted with a solvent such as quinoline, etc., and separated. The spherules are useful as a raw material for a binderless isotropic high-density high-strength carbon material, a filler for liquid chromatography, graphite for producing interlaminar compound, etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio
