abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a novel silane coupling agent, consisting of a specific organosilicon compound, having excellent improving effects on mechanical properties of rubber compositions reinforced or modified with an inorganic filler without affecting processability or operability in post-treatment of the above-mentioned compositions. CONSTITUTION:The aimed pharmaceutical consisting of an organosilicon compound expressed by formula I (X is hydrolyzable substituent group; R is hydrocarbon; n is a number of 1-3; Y is a substituent group having C=C bond and an adjacent electron attractive group when no electron attractive group is present on the C=C bond or plural adjacent electron attractive groups when one electron attractive group is present). Furthermore, e.g. a compound expressed by formula II prepared by reacting N-allylmaleimide with trimethoxysilane, is cited as the compound expressed by formula I. Alumina, etc., are preferred as the inorganic filler used for rubber compositions to which the afore-mentioned pharmaceutical is applied. Sulfur, etc., are preferred as a crosslinking agent.
