Method and apparatus for applying powder to the workpiece |
abstract |
The apparatus for spraying the powder coating material includes a rotating turret that moves the article on and off the workbench. The powder spray gun is in turn operable to spray a pattern onto each article while the article is in the operating position. The powder flows through the spray gun as a series of pulses. The diverter assembly is operated to divert each pulse portion of the powder away from the nozzle to specify the pulse more sharply. The excess powder collector draws off the powder flow away from the workbench. The pure powder container supplies the powder (which feeds the powder supply container), the powder collector container and the powder supply container supplies the powder to the spray gun. Detectors associated with pure water collectors and supply vessels ensure that a certain amount of powder is maintained in each vessel. During the transport of powder from the pure water and collector vessels, the vessel and its associated pumps are vibrated to promote the flow of the powder. The powder spray gun is mounted on a triaxial adjuster assembly that enables a powder spray gun nozzle to be positioned accurately with respect to the article on the workbench. |
