abstract | Methods and apparatus for spinning filaments of polymeric material may require spin pack 24 to be polymerized so that temperature is substantially uniform across polymer filter holder 30 and spin nozzle plate 36 in spin pack 24. And a first temperature control mechanism 96 for heating to a first predetermined reference temperature higher than the inlet temperature. A plate assembly 56 having at least one polymer flow passage therein is disposed between the outlet of the pump and the inlet of the spin pack. A second temperature control mechanism 100 is provided for independently controlling the temperature of the plate assembly 56 to a second predetermined reference temperature. The second predetermined reference temperature may be selected to be higher, equal, or lower than the predetermined polymer inlet temperature, whereby the temperature of the polymer transferred through the polymer flow passage in plate assembly 56 is equal to the second predetermined reference temperature. It is selectively controllable to a predetermined polymer temperature within a predetermined range. |
