| abstract | The present invention relates to a wire drawing die having improved physical properties, and a blank therefor. A cemented carbide support component having a longitudinal dimension is provided to extend radially with respect to the longitudinal central axis to define the interior aperture therethrough. In order to accommodate the wire drawn through the inner hole, a sintered polycrystalline compact component is received in the hole of the support component. The compact component is coupled to the support component at an interface extending from the axis to the second end spaced by the second local maximum radial distance from the axis at a first end spaced the first local maximum radial distance. The interface defines a medium region that is radially symmetric about the longitudinal axis and extends radially inwardly from the first and second ends and is spaced between them by a local minimum radial distance from the axis. |
