titleOfInvention | Liquid crystal display |
abstract | A high definition, wide viewing angle liquid crystal display device using nematic liquid crystals that satisfies both memory performance and wide viewing angle display characteristics while reducing power consumption. The liquid crystal display element using nematic liquid crystal includes a pair of transparent substrates SUB1 and SUB2, a liquid crystal layer LCL disposed between the pair of transparent substrates SUB1 and SUB2, and a liquid crystal layer LCL. An electrode group for applying an electric field having a component substantially parallel to the substrate surfaces, and an alignment film disposed between the liquid crystal layer LCL and one or more transparent substrates of the pair of transparent substrates SUB1 and SUB2; The orientation of the liquid crystal is adjusted in a plurality of directions in which all angles formed in the substrate are equal to each other, and the pretilt angle from the substrate is almost zero for each of the adjusted liquid crystal alignments. |
