Shipping containers are disclosed that detect the status of a container from a remote location or detect the status of another shipping container in the vicinity of the shipping container. The shipping container includes an onboard microserver that communicates with a plurality of sensors in the container. The sensed state of the container serves as an Internet node that allows the remote client to communicate with the computer device of the remote client.
