titleOfInvention Organic injection laser
abstract In unipolar organic implanted lasers, electrically stimulated transitions within the band induce laser radiation. The active region 140 includes one or more organic injection layers 144 and one or more organic emission layers 142. Each organic light emitting layer has a first energy level and a second energy level in the energy gap defined by the conduction band and the valence band on the same side. Charge carriers are injected to the first energy level of the organic light emitting layer through the organic injection layer when a voltage is applied to the active region. The energy difference between the first energy level and the second energy level produces radiated light emission as the charge carriers transition from the first energy level to the second energy level. Density inversion is maintained between the first energy level and the second energy level, so that induced light emission and laser radiation occur.
