| abstract | Systems and methods are described that facilitate the ordered processing of service data units (SDUs) during a communication handover of a wireless communication network. In particular, for mobile devices using a retransmission scheme, the SDUs can be processed to be aligned by indicating to the target base station the index of the last SDU received to be aligned prior to communication handoff to the target base station. In addition, the received SDUs following one or more negatively acknowledged SDUs may be delivered to the target base station. Using this information, the target base station can determine one or more SDUs that the mobile device is preparing for retransmission and can wait for this SDU before processing the sequentially received SDUs. In addition, a timer may be used to terminate the wait for the SDU. |
