abstract An austenitic stainless steel composition comprising relatively low nickel and molybdenum levels and exhibiting corrosion resistance, resistance to elevated temperature strain, and moldability properties corresponding to certain alloys, including higher nickel and molybdenum levels. Specific examples of the austenitic stainless steels include stainless steels having a maximum of 0.20 C, 2.0-9.0 Mn, 2.0 Si maximum, 16.0-23.0 Cr, 1.0-7.0 Ni, 3.0 Mo maximum, 3.0 Cu maximum, 0.05-0.35 N, (Nb + Ti + V + Ta + Zr) 1.5, a maximum of 0.01 B, a maximum of 1.0 Co, iron and impurities up to 4.0 W, (7.5 (% C)). Specific examples of the steel may include 0.5? (Mo + W / 2)? 5.0 and / or 1.0? (Ni + Co)? 8.0.
