abstract Methods, apparatus and computer program products for wireless communication are provided. The device receives a configuration indicating multicast broadcast single frequency network (MBSFN) subframes within a radio frame. This configuration indicates the number of symbols for receiving a wide area network (WAN) control signal among the MBSFN subframes and the remaining symbols dedicated to peer-to-peer communication among the MBSFN subframes. The device communicates with the peer through symbols dedicated to peer-to-peer communication. Alternatively, the device receives a configuration indicating the start and/or end of a guard period of a special time division duplex (TDD) subframe. That portion is reserved for uplink timing advances and/or transition from transmit to receive and/or from receive to transmit. This configuration also indicates the rest of the guard period for peer-to-peer communication in the special TDD subframe. The device communicates with the peer through the rest.
