abstract | [PROBLEMS] The present invention provides a polymer composition in which a polarizing element with high dichroism can be obtained without an alignment film. [Solutions] The present invention provides a polymer composition containing (A) a branched-chain polymer having a structure for expressing photoreactivity and a structure for expressing liquid crystallinity, (B) a dichroic dye and an organic solvent. A polarizing layer with high dichroism can be obtained by the manufacturing method which has the process of apply|coating this composition on a board|substrate to form a coating film, the process of irradiating the ultraviolet-ray polarized to the obtained coating film, and the process of heating the obtained coating film. Since the polarizing element obtained using the polymer composition of this invention does not require an orientation film, the simplification of a manufacturing process and reduction of member cost are anticipated. |
